Exciting!

Wednesday, 30 July 2008

Very pleased because I have a very exciting job coming up this week.  It's interior photography (love doing interiors) at the Belvedere apartments in Cambridge, a very snazzy new development that I have done an exterior shoot for (see photos above) but havn't been inside yet so i'm looking forward to it.  I'm shooting one of the penthouses with an interior designer who will style it.  Photos to follow!

Portrait Shoot

Monday, 28 July 2008

Here are some shots from a recent photo shoot of John.  I played in photoshop and tried some out new techniques, what do you think?  There are more photos on my flickr (see link in the right hand column)

Also the 365 self portraits are on day 4 now and still going strong!  See them also on my flickr page.

Project 365

Friday, 25 July 2008

So my idea for self portraits has continued to fester and yesterday I came across a group on flickr where you do a self portrait every day for a year.  There are some very strict rules to this group so I will try to obey them and be a good self portraiturist!  Here is my first day:

Wonder how long I will last?  Fingers crossed it will be the full year!

Architectural Shots from KKBSpace Magazine

Sorry it has taken a while to post this images up here, I have been in Wales which was excellent!  Here are larger versions of the images featured in KKBSpace Magazine.

KBB Space Magazine

Friday, 18 July 2008

I did a shoot for a serviced apartment company in Cambridge called Cambridge Apartments and the images I took of one of the apartment blocks (called Meadowcroft) was featured in the July edition of KBB Space, which is an architectural trade magazine.  Unfortunately as this is a trade magazine I can't get my hands on a copy but I do have a PDF of the article which you can see above.  This is probably the biggest thing that I have had published so far so its very exciting!  I will upload some of the images that were in the magazine here as well later.

Image of the week not month

I was getting a bit bored with the wet feet image in my image of the month section (right) so I have decided to change this feature to image of the week instead.

Gorgeous

Thursday, 17 July 2008

Just wanted to share with everyone my favourite image from a recent photo shoot I did of my boyfriend.  I'm very very pleased with this shot, the weather was kind and my model(!) looks very natural and relaxed.  I will post the others on jpg magazine or flickr soon (see right hand column for links to these sites).

Self Portraits

Wednesday, 16 July 2008

It seems to be getting incresingly difficlut to pin people down (not literally!) to let me take their photograph, so I have been toying with the idea of doing a self portrait project for a while now. I have seen some excellent ones where people take a photo of themselves everyday for a year, which I think is a fab idea. I think that it will also help because I will know exactly what it is like modelling for someone and if I can make myself more confident and comfortable in front of the camera then I think it will help me to make other people more confident and comfortable in front of the camera which will ultimately result in some amazing portraits!

Found

Just been sorting out my hard drive and found this picture, I had forgotten how good it was.

submitted to jpg - please vote

So, this is some shameless self promotion but please visit:  http://www.jpgmag.com/photos/833600
and vote for my submission into the geometry theme for the new jpg magazine (if you think it is any good).  The image is an architectural shot of the inside of The Judge Business School in Cambridge.

Thanks in advance!

ruined negatives

I'm really interested in alternative processes, old cameras and different types of film and at the moment I am making a 35mm pin hole camera which hopefully will work! if it does I'll post the pictures up here.  I want to try some handheld pin hole shots, think it could be interesting?

I am also experimenting with some negatives that got damaged when I moved house - all the backing paper of the neg carrier got wet and they have welded themselves onto the negatives!  Unfortunately the negs were good ones, so I was gutted, but after I gave up trying to rescue them I decided that I would try and destroy them even more.  I am currently trying to grow mould on a strip of them, the idea then is to scan them in and hopefully something wonderful will happen.

Fingers crossed!

woohoo!

Just a quick one, I have been doing some architectural photography for a company called Encore Estate Management in Cambridge, they have used my images on their website and also in the Cambridge Evening News' Rental Newspaper.  One of the images featured on the front cover!

proud/embarrassed, hard to define

Tuesday, 8 July 2008

Very excited because...... I have won an award!!!!  It is for "The Student With Most Potential" so that was very unexpected and very encouraging.  I have slightly been putting off writing this post though, as I find it quite hard to shout about things i have done/won, so the first sentence of this posting was a bit hard to write and I will probably cringe later but never mind!  The photo on the right is the photo that I wanted to be put in the magazine, unfortunately they weren't that impressed and are using one where I am not hiding!

Published on File Magazine

Wednesday, 2 July 2008

I have begun to realise that I should of started this earlier so I am going to back peddle a bit with whats been going on in the last few months.  So to start with, as you can see from the above 2 images I have been experimenting with polaroid emulsion lifts which (without giving away my secrets) is a process where you remove the emulsion from a polaroid print and transfer it onto another surface.  I submitted these images to File magazine (www.filemagazine.com, an excellent online photography magazine) and they were accepted to feature as a project on their site - que lots of overexcitment shrieking and jumping around!  If you follow this link you can see my project entitled 'Fringes' on file magazine.
