Off to Chelsea

(edit - please click on the banner at the top, this is not the front page its an old post!!!!)

Its been a manic time, i left it to the last possible second (as usual) but my portfolio and framed pieces are safely at the gallery and ready to go on their merry way to Art London.  My Dad made the frames, he is very very good at it (think he should do it professionally but he'll only make them for mum and me!) anyway here is my first framed piece:

looks good doesn't it?  The exhibition opens on thursday

EXHIBITION!!!

Thursday, 25 September 2008

Very exciting news, my 'Fringes' project is going to be exhibited at Art London (www.artlondon.net) on the 2nd - 6th October 2008 (next weekend!!!) at the Royal Hospital Chelsea.  It is the first time my work has been exhibited so I am very excited/nervous all at the same time.  A gallery from Cambridge called Byard Art are exhibiting my work on their stand so if anyone is in London on any of those days take a look and let me know what you think.

To see some more images from the collection you can visit my flickr set:

Not all the images that will be in the exhibition are in flickr set, so to see the whole collection you'll have to go to the show!

so much to do and so little time!

Just got back from a particularly good holiday - lots of relaxing, photo taking, walking, drinking and cheese eating! (i was in France) - also did some kayaking too which I highly recommend and squeezed in some reading.  I got a chance to read some of the photography magazines and books I have been hoarding.

Anyway I have come back a fresh and totally inspired to take loads of photos, new project ideas are brewing and the fire that was in my fringes project (www.flickr.com/photos/cazhancox/sets/72157604550763179/) has been reignited so more emulsion lifts are on the way.  I also fell back in love with my polaroid camera after a minor break-up.  We have worked through our differences now though and are back together and stronger than ever!!

back from holiday

good news - found a four leaf clover in france, yay!

bad news - missed week 10 of photo of the week but i was on hoilday and had no internet connection so i have a good excuse.  I'm uploading a dyptrict of France this week, though to make up for it.  2 for the price of 1!

artists statement

Friday, 12 September 2008

Just been writing my artists statement for an upcoming exhibition.  I find writing those so hard, its been playing on my mind for ages and i've been putting it off but the deadline is monday so I had to deliver it today so no more getting out of it.  After all that hard work i thought i'd share it with you (just in case no-one reads it at the exhibition!)

Click on it and you can see a larger version so you can actually see what it says!

yay for bunting

Thursday, 11 September 2008

Yes, that is a picture of me covered in mud.  I fell over whilst at Bestival, it was so so so so muddy!  I am just very glad that our tent wasn't at the edge of the paths because those poor people had puddles of mud lapping at there canvas doors!

So, I meant to write this post just after I came back from Bestival at the weekend but I was so busy editing the Chatel stuff and then I did another shoot for welding alloys, that I didn't have a chance to sort out the photos from the weekend to put up here.  And then the exhaust on my car fell off so it was in the garage yesterday - all very complicated I know!

Well I have finally found a minute so here are some of them, I mainly took photos of the bunting and the flags, it was so beautiful (i got a little overexcited about the bunting, same thing happened last year, i just love the colours!) It was even pretty  in the rain.

another plea for votes, this time for the nightime theme:

oh no!

Arrgghhhh i'm so gutted as I didn't have enough time last week to upload a photo of the week, i was in chatel (as I have already mentioned at least 100 times on here!) and then also at a very muddy but excellent Bestival, I will upload one for this week asap but in the mean time I wanted to tell you about my new favourite website.  I feel like I have missed out on a bit of artsy importantness as I have only just discovered it but better late than never.  It is called design for mankind:  www.designformankind.com

and it is a blog about lots of cute, weird and wonderful goings on in the design world and the best thing is that it is run by a lovely lady who when I sent an email to say how much i loved her site, she replied with an equally lovely message - ahhhhh it makes me all warm and gooey inside.

Chatel

Wednesday, 3 September 2008

Got back from Chatel last night, very very very late and with a bumpy landing so i'm a bit bleary eyed today but had an excellent time, have got loads of good photos which all need editing so as soon as I have gone through them they will be up here.  Also just want to say thanks to Frances and Glen for making us feel very welcome.
