Southwold

Went to beach for the day this weekend, it was freezing and snowy - there was even snow on the beach!  But it was beautiful, I took many many photos which I am in the process of editing.  This is a polaroid of the sunset (in case you are wondering where the snow is - it had melted by lunchtime!)

Latest Architectural Shoot

Friday, 21 November 2008

I recently had a shoot for Haysom Ward Miller Architects in Cambridge where I had to take some interior and exterior photographs of a school they had designed.  The school was lovely, it was an extension to a gorgeous old little Victorian Primary School that had an amazing garden so the setting couldn't of been better.

The thing that I noticed the most about the school was the materials that it was made of, they were very natural.  The had used different woods with gorgeous grains and textures so as well as doing some more conventional overall shots I took some macro photos with a very shallow depth of field to focus on the details.  I then coupled the shots together so you have on overall shot and a close up shot, that I think looks really great!

scanner art

Thursday, 20 November 2008

I discovered a technique of taking your photo using a scanner instead of a camera!  I thought it sounded fun so I gave it a try:

I quite like the effect, it looks like I am underwater, I might experiment a bit more with this!

blogged about

Monday, 10 November 2008

I googled myself to see if my blog is coming up on the first page (it is but at the bottom - very annoying!) but whilst doing that I found that someone has blogged about me and my project on file magazine:

It was back in march but its still nice to find out!  thank you to photokaboom!

scavenger project

I have just finished my entries for the scavenger project competition.  It is with the art house co-op and design for mankind.  Basically you enter and then the art house send you a list and you have to come up with something creative for each item on the list, the best ones then get made into a book - good eh?!

This is a little thumbnail sheet of my entries.  Fingers crossed some of them make it into the book!

there is a group on flickr where you can keep up to date on everyones progress:  www.flickr.com/groups/scavengerproject/pool/
