macedonia again

Wednesday, 22 July 2009

Another shot from Macedonia, I can't remember what this was, but I like the atmosphere that this photo creates! Sometimes mistakes are good!

woohoo - blogged!

Thankyou Amanda from mocking bird blog for adding me to your favourites post the other day, the selection of images you have chosen look so lovely together (mine is the top right image).

Belvoir Castle

Yesterday I did a shoot at Belvoir Castle near Grantham for the 41st International Chemistry Olympiad (basically this is the chemistry olympics). The day was full of games and activities but what struck me the most was the castle itself, it was huge, a proper fairytale castle! These are some of my favourite out-takes from the day. I love how the one of the whole castle looks like it is floating on a fluffy green cloud!

It is pouring here, reminds me of how much it rained at Bestival last year, at least its not as muddy though!

Walking home

Thursday, 16 July 2009

I was walking to the station from work yesterday to go home and was suddenly inspired by everything! To make it even better at the end of the street there was this boy sitting by the side of the road, and I couldn't of posed him better, its perfect! One of my favourite photos I've taken for a while.

ps. there is a note on the printer sitting on the bike which says "help yourself" you can't really see it here though, never mind

Lake Matka

Wednesday, 15 July 2009

I took this while I was in Macedonia a few weeks ago. This is the beautiful Lake Matka near the capital, Skopje. I want to go back and explore rural Macedonia some more. It was such an interesting, beautiful and most of all such a green country (I mean the colour not environmentally friendly!). This lake is a man made lake, the result of a huge dam that flooded a valley. A little way along the lake is a set of caves that were only discovered in the 60's imagine that?

Judichick's favourites

I was very happy to see one of my photos included in Judichick's (I don't know her real name unfortunately) favourites montage on flickr. Mine is number 7 as you work across! There are some really lovely images in this selection. I particularly like number 6 which is by Hector Pozuelo, such a gorgeous image. You can see the selection bigger and have a look at all the other yummy images here.

Thank you very much Judichick.

Distinction!

Monday, 13 July 2009

I am so pleased to find out that I have just received a distinction in my foundation degree!! I can't believe it I am so pleased with my little self!!! Woohoo!!! And I never have to write another essay again (well I really hope not anyway). People keep asking me what I am going to now? Take more photos, is what I always answer! This flower was taken a while ago but I re-discovered it the other day and thought id show the world. Flowers are pretty.

1 Year Old!

Tuesday, 7 July 2009

I am a little late with the celebrations but my blog was 1 on the 27th of June!!!!!

So much has happened in the last year. I have had 3 exhibitions, finished uni, made a book (and sold some copies!) had lots of freelance commissions and last week I won another award at college, this one was for 'Continued High Achievement' which was lovely. I also have some people who actually read my blog which I wouldn't of dreamt of a the beginning!! So thankyou to everyone who has left me lovely little messages and who reads my ramblings. Everything is going pretty well and I hope that in the next year my freelance business continues to grow, my secret dream is to work for Waitrose Food Illustrated, I just love the photography in that magazine. Maybe this year I will get to work for them?! Fingers crossed!!

Lots of love to everyone who reads my blog. The photo above is one of my favourite funny shots from glastonbury, I was trying to take a photo of the dancing girls when Bananaman jumped in shot!
