another one!

Wednesday, 3 December 2008

I found another cute polaroid, this was taken about a year and a half ago when John took me to the zoo for my birthday, a little marmosette climbed on my head that day!

ps (the colours are more vivid on my computer - it looks more like it should over on flickr, no idea why!)

simple is best

Sometimes the most simple things are the most beautiful.  I am in the middle of sorting out my shop on Dawanda (www.carolinehancox.dawanda.com) and found this polaroid I took a few months ago, thought I'd share it with you.

Latest Architectural Shoot

Friday, 21 November 2008

I recently had a shoot for Haysom Ward Miller Architects in Cambridge where I had to take some interior and exterior photographs of a school they had designed.  The school was lovely, it was an extension to a gorgeous old little Victorian Primary School that had an amazing garden so the setting couldn't of been better.

The thing that I noticed the most about the school was the materials that it was made of, they were very natural.  The had used different woods with gorgeous grains and textures so as well as doing some more conventional overall shots I took some macro photos with a very shallow depth of field to focus on the details.  I then coupled the shots together so you have on overall shot and a close up shot, that I think looks really great!

blogged about

I googled myself to see if my blog is coming up on the first page (it is but at the bottom - very annoying!) but whilst doing that I found that someone has blogged about me and my project on file magazine:

It was back in march but its still nice to find out!  thank you to photokaboom!

New Project

Thursday, 9 October 2008

I have recently joined a group on flickr all about re-touching called "Points of View - Retouching Issues".  Everyone in the group is given the same photo and we all have to retouch it in our own way, however we like.  The photo above is my attempt and below is the original image (it is not my photograph it was supplied by a member of the group).  I think that this is a relatively new group so I hope that it survives in the big wide world of flickr because I think that it is a super idea!  It is really interesting to see how different people approach the same image and come up with completely different outcomes.

ps. its my birthday today, yay!!

EXHIBITION!!!

Thursday, 25 September 2008

Very exciting news, my 'Fringes' project is going to be exhibited at Art London (www.artlondon.net) on the 2nd - 6th October 2008 (next weekend!!!) at the Royal Hospital Chelsea.  It is the first time my work has been exhibited so I am very excited/nervous all at the same time.  A gallery from Cambridge called Byard Art are exhibiting my work on their stand so if anyone is in London on any of those days take a look and let me know what you think.

To see some more images from the collection you can visit my flickr set:

Not all the images that will be in the exhibition are in flickr set, so to see the whole collection you'll have to go to the show!

so much to do and so little time!

Just got back from a particularly good holiday - lots of relaxing, photo taking, walking, drinking and cheese eating! (i was in France) - also did some kayaking too which I highly recommend and squeezed in some reading.  I got a chance to read some of the photography magazines and books I have been hoarding.

Anyway I have come back a fresh and totally inspired to take loads of photos, new project ideas are brewing and the fire that was in my fringes project (www.flickr.com/photos/cazhancox/sets/72157604550763179/) has been reignited so more emulsion lifts are on the way.  I also fell back in love with my polaroid camera after a minor break-up.  We have worked through our differences now though and are back together and stronger than ever!!

back from holiday

good news - found a four leaf clover in france, yay!

bad news - missed week 10 of photo of the week but i was on hoilday and had no internet connection so i have a good excuse.  I'm uploading a dyptrict of France this week, though to make up for it.  2 for the price of 1!
