Beautiful Country House

Tuesday, 30 August 2011

A few weeks ago I had a great commission to take some photos of this gorgeous bedroom for an Interior Designers portfolio. I had a great day working with a lovely stylist and these photos are the result. I shot the bathroom too so I'll post those photos up here sometime soon. August has been a pretty hectic month I've just seen how little I've been updating this blog so I'll try to be better and be back soon with some holiday tales, photos, exhibition news (maybe even a little sneak preview), print shop opening, a new website, more commissioned photos, a wedding and maybe even some random ramblings about stuff I've seen. Until then enjoy the photos.

black and white cambridge

Monday, 23 November 2009

I had an excellent job the other day, I was commissioned to shoot black and white architectural photographs of Cambridge of different periods with no cheesy 'Cambridge' shots! No Kings College aloud! This was for the new Chard Robinson offices. They wanted loads of photos to decorate all the walls of their spangly new office, which is a gorgeous old victorian house right on Hills Road in Cambridge. I can't wait to see the photos on the walls.

Latest Architectural Shoot

Friday, 21 November 2008

I recently had a shoot for Haysom Ward Miller Architects in Cambridge where I had to take some interior and exterior photographs of a school they had designed.  The school was lovely, it was an extension to a gorgeous old little Victorian Primary School that had an amazing garden so the setting couldn't of been better.

The thing that I noticed the most about the school was the materials that it was made of, they were very natural.  The had used different woods with gorgeous grains and textures so as well as doing some more conventional overall shots I took some macro photos with a very shallow depth of field to focus on the details.  I then coupled the shots together so you have on overall shot and a close up shot, that I think looks really great!

mankind mag

Woohoo!  One of my photos has been selected to appear in the latest edition of mankind mag (which is a magazine by the lady who writes the blog design for mankind).  I have known about it for a while but I didnt want to write about in case it didn't happen.  Well it did, yay!  Click here for a link to the magazine.

This is the photo that made it in:

so much to do and so little time!

Thursday, 25 September 2008

Just got back from a particularly good holiday - lots of relaxing, photo taking, walking, drinking and cheese eating! (i was in France) - also did some kayaking too which I highly recommend and squeezed in some reading.  I got a chance to read some of the photography magazines and books I have been hoarding.

Anyway I have come back a fresh and totally inspired to take loads of photos, new project ideas are brewing and the fire that was in my fringes project (www.flickr.com/photos/cazhancox/sets/72157604550763179/) has been reignited so more emulsion lifts are on the way.  I also fell back in love with my polaroid camera after a minor break-up.  We have worked through our differences now though and are back together and stronger than ever!!

Love or hate 365 days?

Thursday, 28 August 2008

I'm having a bit of a love hate relationship with my 365 days project.  If you have looked at my flickr page you will see that I havn't uploaded any images for a while, I have been taking them but I just havn't had time for the edit and upload of them!  I think that on one hand 365 is a good idea because it makes you think about photography everyday and it encourages you to shoot something everyday but I think about photography all the time anyway - the only problem now is that it is focused on one particular area and not thinking up fabulous new projects to do.  I feel a bit pressured to come up with something every day and am starting to get annoyed by it, especially when the photo hasn't come out exactly as I want and i feel I am uploading not my best stuff.  I am thinking about changing the project to one amazing well though out, planned and executed photo a week, so 52 weeks not 365 days!  I don't want to give it up completely and I don't want this project to beat me but I feel it is having a negative impact on my work as I just don't have enough time to come up with meaninful images.  Saying that though, some of the photos I have taken for this project I am really really happy with so maybe it is a good thing?  I'll see how it goes, watch this space, or rather watch my flickr page!  www.flickr.com/photos/cazhancox

On a happier note - Chatel photos this weekend - woohoo!!

Chatel

Monday, 18 August 2008

This is some very very exciting news that I can't believe I havn't mentioned on my blog before but I'll do it now instead!  I have got myself a job taking photographs of a chalet in Chatel in the French Alps!!  It is so exciting, possibly my dream job, combining photography and my love of the mountains!  Couldn't be better.  The job will be some interior shots and also some exterior ones of the chalet and local area, my boyfriend is coming along too which he is incredibly happy about as he gets to play on his bike in the mountains, so it is all round excellent.  I'm not nervous either yet, just excited, I'm sure nerves will come, in face they will definatley come - probably on the plane, I'll be sitting there worrying that my bags have gone to outer mongolia and I am going to turn up in France without my tripod or something else essential! fingers crossed that won't happen.  The photos are going to be used on the chalets new and improved website, here is the current website:  www.alpinequests.com

I'll post the photos and updated website link when I am back from France.

Belvedere

Tuesday, 12 August 2008

So, I have finally got round to uploading some images from my shoot last Friday.  The shoot was in a very lovely penthouse apartment at the Belvedere Apartments in Cambridge.  The owner had completely redesigned the layout and redecorated, it was just the most beautiful apartment I have ever seen!  It was also the first time I had worked with an interior designer and it was great to work with one, it is always good to have an extra pair of eyes and someone to fluff the pillows (I must stress that she did a lot more than just fluff the pillows, she was brilliant).  The photos will be used on a website to sell the property which isn't on-line yet but as soon as it is, i'll post the link here.

Exciting!

Wednesday, 30 July 2008

Very pleased because I have a very exciting job coming up this week.  It's interior photography (love doing interiors) at the Belvedere apartments in Cambridge, a very snazzy new development that I have done an exterior shoot for (see photos above) but havn't been inside yet so i'm looking forward to it.  I'm shooting one of the penthouses with an interior designer who will style it.  Photos to follow!
