my visit

Monday, 6 October 2008

I went to Art London on Saturday to have a look at what it was like and it was amazing, there were some fabulous pieces of work that I really really liked, some inspiring pieces and there was also some absolute rubbish! - but then it is all subjective so i'm sure someone will like what I thought was crap.  But anyway - my photos were there too in amongst everything!  it was so exciting, I wanted to take a photo to put up here but it was all very professional and I didn't want to look an idiot so I resisted, wish I hadn't now but never mind!  Unfortunately I didn't sell anything but for my work just to be there was amazing, I was at the same art fair as Damien Hirst's work.  Mind blowing!!!

opens today!

It was the preview of Art London last night and the official opening today.  I'm so nervous!  My mum is going today to have a look so i'm waiting patiently by my phone for her to tell me what it is like - CALL ME MUM!!!

EXHIBITION!!!

Thursday, 25 September 2008

Very exciting news, my 'Fringes' project is going to be exhibited at Art London (www.artlondon.net) on the 2nd - 6th October 2008 (next weekend!!!) at the Royal Hospital Chelsea.  It is the first time my work has been exhibited so I am very excited/nervous all at the same time.  A gallery from Cambridge called Byard Art are exhibiting my work on their stand so if anyone is in London on any of those days take a look and let me know what you think.

To see some more images from the collection you can visit my flickr set:

Not all the images that will be in the exhibition are in flickr set, so to see the whole collection you'll have to go to the show!

so much to do and so little time!

Just got back from a particularly good holiday - lots of relaxing, photo taking, walking, drinking and cheese eating! (i was in France) - also did some kayaking too which I highly recommend and squeezed in some reading.  I got a chance to read some of the photography magazines and books I have been hoarding.

Anyway I have come back a fresh and totally inspired to take loads of photos, new project ideas are brewing and the fire that was in my fringes project (www.flickr.com/photos/cazhancox/sets/72157604550763179/) has been reignited so more emulsion lifts are on the way.  I also fell back in love with my polaroid camera after a minor break-up.  We have worked through our differences now though and are back together and stronger than ever!!

I have begun to realise that I should of started this earlier so I am going to back peddle a bit with whats been going on in the last few months.  So to start with, as you can see from the above 2 images I have been experimenting with polaroid emulsion lifts which (without giving away my secrets) is a process where you remove the emulsion from a polaroid print and transfer it onto another surface.  I submitted these images to File magazine (www.filemagazine.com, an excellent online photography magazine) and they were accepted to feature as a project on their site - que lots of overexcitment shrieking and jumping around!  If you follow this link you can see my project entitled 'Fringes' on file magazine.
